You don't double space after a period anymore?
I didn't get the memo. Shouldn't all former English majors get some sort of Western Union telegram announcing these kind of punctuation decisions?
Or maybe it came by email and I missed it because I was sipping tea and wearing white gloves while I tip tapped away on my Smith Corona on the veranda of my Victorian porch.
Wow, I feel old. I didn't know.
Anyway here's a nice explanation of the current punctuation situation.
EDIT: oooh aaaahhh, I just found a webcomic about punctuation. And there's violence!! Violence about punctuation!! Take that as a warning all those who would dare enter into the dangerous world of punctuation. Punctuation is pretty d&mn close to puncture....just saying. /insert weak hiccuping evil laugh. (About punctuation, has violence and is commenting on zero punctuation....reading the comic really made my day)

I know, I think I just type the double space automatically. My hands are trained.
I didn't learn to type too very long ago (ok, so 13 years), and I was taught *always* to double space after a period. And that was using a computer running Win95! My hands are definitely trained.
And I didn't get the memo either >.<

13 years? hmmm, I have to count...ach! it's been 27 years for me. I feel woozy...some one hand me my cane. :-)

You're not alone in not getting the memo. I learned to type in the 9th grade (damn near 20 years ago) on a DOS box with WordPerfect (lawlz.) My fingers are trained to doublespace after a period. In fact, it drives me up the wall when blogs, forums, etc. strip one of those spaces out.

Thanks for researching that rabbit. I didn't get the memo either, and I would like. To. Point. Out. That. I single-spaced after all my periods. And it was REAL hard.
@Khol Drake I learned in 8th grade on a selectric typewriter and I got a B. Yup I remember because I was bitter.
@beowulfa I'm feeling better knowing that I wasn't the only one that missed the memo. And, confession, I haven't even attempted to single space after a period. That double tap with the thumb just feels so authoritative. I don't want to let it go.
